The tournament is a double elimination format, which means the Knights remain alive and will play against Bethany Lutheran at 4 p.m. Friday in an elimination game after the Vikings lost 8-5 to Northwestern in round one.

St. Scholastica broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth off MLC starting pitcher Matt Olson to take a commanding 8-0 lead.

Olson went six innings in the game, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits and six walks as he picked up the loss to fall to 1-2 this season.

Wyatt Weimer came in relief of Olson in the seventh inning and allowed the final two CSS runs.

At the plate, MLC finished with five hits, including four doubles, but were unable to push any runs across the plate. Joe Janke, William Jensen, Joe Schmudlach and Tyler Dorn each had one double in the game.

MLC dropped its record to 13-11 on the season with the loss, while CSS improved to 25-9 with the win.
