Baseball Loses Sunday Game against PC
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC baseball team lost its game against Presentation Sunday afternoon by the score of 9-2.
The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double from Aaron Stokke, scoring Eric Mielke from first base.
Joe Blum held the Saints scoreless for the first two innings, but ran into trouble in the third, surrendering the lead by allowing two runs to score.
The Saints broke the game open in the fifth, scoring four more off Blum to take a 6-1 lead, and then adding two more in the sixth. Blum took the loss for the Knights, allowing eight runs (six earned) on ten hits in six innings as he dropped to 0-5 on the season. He also walked three and struck out four.
Presentation pitcher Matt Kervin held the MLC bats in check most of the game, striking out nine in seven innings of work.
At the plate, Brad Essig, Ben Edmundson, Galen Holzhueter and Mielke each had two hits for MLC, which was outhit 13-10 for the game and left ten runners on base.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-19 on the season and 1-11 in the UMAC, while PC improved to 12-16 overall and 8-6 in league play.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, April 17, when it hosts North Central for a double header scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at Mueller Park.
